Vintage 1940s/ 1950s Chinese silk jacket with frog closure at nape of neck. The shoulders are structured adding shape, and the sleeves are bell shaped hitting below the elbow. The back is slightly longer giving this a nice drape. The jacket is a cropped style, ending just above the waist. It fastens with gold-colored, small, leaf-shaped ornamental frog closure at the collar bone. A very demure, really beautiful jacket. The jacket is a dark, rich black color with a subtle, repeating floral pattern all over. The fabric is silk with a slight sheen, the inner lining is a golden silk. The collar is pointed.
I googled the address on the label, the history in quite interesting. This address is now called Chungking Mansions which began construction in 1956 and completed in 1961. The arcade was a popular tourist sitr with shops and bars and currency exchange ( much as it is now though much smaller). It was closed between 1941- 1945 because of the war, in fact two bombs were dropped on it, , one of which exploded and another that weighed over 500 pounds and was buried and not uncovered until the construction of Chungking Mansion in 1959, fifteen years later. This is why dating the jacket exactly to a decade is a bit difficult so this could be late 1940s or early 1950s though mu hunch is late 40s because of the collar and sleeves and crop. I love knowing the history of a garment. You can also google the address to find out more and see photos of the original arcade this jacket came from.
This would make a simple outfit easily glamorous. Best fit small, please see the measurements below.

Condition: Excellent, there are no stains anywhere. There is one tear at the inside you can see in the last photo.
